Keeping your vehicle serviced

Keeping your vehicle serviced to the manufacturer's stated guidelines is very important. Not only does it support keeping your vehicle well maintained and in good working order, but it can affect your manufacturer's warranty if you do not. If you wish to maximise your vehicle's future value at the time of sale or de-fleet, we advise getting your vehicle serviced regularly. It is good practice too. If you obtained your vehicle via a lease agreement, you may incur an end-of-contract charge if it is handed back to the finance company without a service having been conducted.

Treating customers fairly

At Whippet Vehicles, we treat customers fairly and understand the importance of highlighting best practices. Please take time to read the guidance below.

What a maintained contract may include

Maintenance packages vary by provider, but they are designed to make budgeting easier by spreading many expected running costs across the agreement.

  • Scheduled servicing and routine maintenance.
  • Mechanical and electrical repairs due to fair wear and tear.
  • Tyres, MOT tests and selected replacement parts.
  • Breakdown support or technical assistance depending on the provider.

What is usually excluded

Maintenance packages are not a blank cheque. Damage, misuse and driver error are normally excluded, so it is important to understand what is and is not covered.

  • Accident damage, vandalism and stolen parts.
  • Misfuelling, neglect or driver-induced faults.
  • Missing items, broken aerials, lost keys or damaged accessories.
  • Fluid top-ups between services unless specifically included.

When it makes sense

Included maintenance can be useful if you want predictable budgeting, run higher mileage, operate several vehicles or do not want the admin of arranging unexpected repairs. Paying as you go can still make sense for lower-mileage drivers who prefer to manage costs themselves.
